Skis do lose their life over time, so whatever your ability level, you’ll get a lot more performance, response and fun from a newer ski. It’s nothing to do with scratches on the topsheet, but with what happens inside the ski as it gets older.
A new ski is full of life, responsive and reactive. A strong camber gives heaps of rebound. By contrast, a ski that’s past its sell by date feels sloppy and takes longer to react – often described as a piece of wet spaghetti!
We believe that if you want this season’s new skis you should get them, not be fobbed off with old “similar” models as happens too often.

SKI RENTAL SCAMS
Be very wary of websites that boast 'high quality gear etc' - this more than often means nothing and you certainly should'nt expect new, high end skis - if it's going to be new it would say so!
Equipment levels . . . .
Advanced – recommended for strong, keen skiers with 8 or so week’s experience up to expert level.
Intermediate – recommended up to anything from 8 to 15 week’s experience depending on progress.
Beginner – recommended for beginners up to 1 or 2 week’s experience.
For strong intermediate and advanced level children, from 6 – 8 week’s experience upwards depending on progress. 7 to 12 years.
For beginner and intermediate children from 6 to 12 years.
Aimed at small children up to 5 years old approx.
Adult Performance – for good intermediate and advanced riders from 4 or so weeks’ upwards depending on progress.
Adult Sports – beginners and early intermediates, skiers crossing over for the day.
Junior Boards – for children from around 7 up to 12.
Selecting the correct category will make a massive difference, so don’t be tempted to save a few £££’s by going for a lower level ski than you really need – you’ll waste your whole holiday! . . . .
